The GardensWisteria, roses, heathers and sculptured topiary all feature within the beautiful 3 acre gardens surrounding the hotel.Hellabores and primroses give their show in the dark depths of winter providing colour until the Spring bulbs come into bloom, pushing through the frozen soil. The vast herbaceous borders give a superb performance of colour right through the Summer until the hues start to show signs that Autumn is on its way. Mahonia, hornbeam and beech give inspiration when the sun gets lower and the days shorter. Many areas make up the gardens including woodland, a formal rose garden, the already mentioned amazing herbaceous borders and you will find many areas to relax and reflect on times gone by. Current projects include the renovation of the pond and restoring the kitchen garden to provide herbs for the kitchen and cut flowers for the hotel. Wildlife is abundant with over 15 species of regular bird visitors, foxes and frogs. This truly is a gardeners delight. Our garden is featured in the 'Good Garden Guide'. |
