The Gardens: The stunning 9 acres of mature gardens at Rowhill Grange provide a stunning backdrop to the thatched hotel frontage. The award winning grounds include a small lake home to a variety of birds such as Mallards, Ducks and Moore Hens, rare plants such as Magnolia Grandi Flora, Indian Bean Tree (Catalpa Bignonioides), and one of the few rare prehistoric trees left in the country called Ginko Biloba.
History: Rowhill Grange was built in 1868 as the "summer house" for 18 year old Alice Alexander - pictures of whom may be seen on the way into the restaurant. Our plants and wildlife can be seen by those wising to take a walk around the grounds. Do not be put off by the black swans (an Australian variety) which are apparently not as vicious as the traditional white breed, however we do advise against stroking or touching them!
