Ian McKellen stars as Hamlet, 50 years after first taking on the role in this reimagined age, colour and gender-blind production of Shakespeare’s unrelenting tale of madness, revenge and death. Staged in a new format never seen before at the Theatre Royal Windsor, the production includes a limited number of on-stage seats, which will be made available close to performances dates, giving an exclusive opportunity to experience world-class theatre up-close and personal.
A special display included within the ticket price to Windsor Castle commemorates the life & legacy of HRH Prince Philip, Britain’s longest serving consort. Themes explored include The Prince’s early life & naval career, his role as consort and his support for the sovereign at home & abroad. The displays also focus on his wide-ranging patronages and associations, including sport, science & industry, conservation & the environment, art & collecting and his enthusiastic encouragement of the younger generations.
Brooklands has a host of events planned including the Brooklands Mini day when all types of Mini (including the modern BMW models) are invited. From the oldest to the newest, this year’s event will see some of the earliest examples nestling among hundreds of Minis and their variations including vans & pickups. Italian Car Day sees a plethora of vehicles from Lamborghini, Maserati, Ferrari, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Abarth. Italian car owners are welcome to bring theirs to join in with the fun. The Mercedes-Benz World circuit will see a line-up of cars at lunchtime, while in the afternoon Test Hill will be running, pitting a line-up of cars against the challenge presented by this unique part of Brooklands. See The flagship garden of the RHS & one of the world's greatest gardens sparkle and dazzle. Wander the enchanting displays with a glass of mulled wine in hand through the trail and around the garden to see many of Wisley’s iconic sights in a brand new light. Venture through Seven Acres, the Rock Garden and Wisteria Walk, as well as a plethora of other areas of the garden and marvel at the magnificent trees and shrubs bathed in a spectrum of light. This year, the garden will glow even brighter with more lights, fire candles and fountain displays, as well as the return of a spectacular horticultural display inside the Glasshouse (covid permitting). A magical evening awaits as the woodland and water of Windsor Great Park come alive with dazzling lights, dancing stars and breath-taking projections. This brand new very special light trail will take you on a multi-sensory journey through a dreamlike laser-scape, a cathedral of light and past fountains of flowers, woodland creature holograms and many more moments of awe (you'll need your cameras at the ready!). Workshops are held in a rural studio 51 weeks of the year - you select the day that suits and the studio will confirm if it's convenient. You will be taught a selection of techniques using ‘art clay silver’ which enables you to get started straight away with making your very own designer pieces. You'll be amazed at what you can achieve on your very first go with the guidance of a senior qualified instructor. Visit Lapland UK to bring alive the magic of Father Christmas. Each child will receive a personalised letter inviting them to Lapland and tours last for 3 - 4 hours, starting with a 90 minute immersive theatre performance about the trip to the toy factory where the children will help to make toys for children around the world. There is a visit to Mother Christmas’ Kitchen to listen to stories and decorate fresh gingerbread before heading to the Elven Village where you can go ice skating.
