Private Dining Rooms at Great Fosters near Windsor, Surrey

A historic occasion

Enchanting and historic, The Great Fosters estate sprawls across 55 acres, with a series of handsome redbrick buildings and beautiful landscaped gardens with a Saxon moat, Japanese bridge and even a sundial gifted to Estate from Sir Francis Drake. Within each building and even in the gardens you will find enigmatic private dining spaces, ideal for anything from baby showers to birthdays, anniversaries to incentive trips.

Located in Egham near Windsor, we're perfectly placed for a special occasion, and for guests wanting to rest their heads after a day or evening of revelry, we have plenty of gorgeous bedrooms available too.

The Mowbray & Mandeville

Reached via a private entrance and staircase, the Mowbray & Mandeville suites are charming and stylish indeed. The Mowbray, the larger of the two suites, features a stunning vaulted ceiling and our iconic mullioned windows. The Mandeville makes the perfect spot for drinks and canapes before supper or is ideal for an intimate gathering. The two suites have access to private landing and bathrooms too.

The Garden Room

Situated opposite to the Estate Grill, our The Garden Room is an elegant space with beautiful views of the gardens and direct access to the terrace. Decorated in a stunning and unique mural of pastoral England with a charm that puts us in mind of a Blake poem, it is by day light and airy and by night cosy and atmospheric, added to by the marvellous open fire.

Seating up to 18 guests at one oval table.

The Orangery & Conservatory

Boasting beautiful views of the Magnolia lawn and gardens, The Orangery & Conservatory is a dreamy choice for a sun-drenched special occasion. The tall, arched windows ensure that there is plenty of natural daylight for you and your guests to enjoy.

80 guests for a seated lunch or dinner on round tables of 10.

The Tithe Barn & Painted Hall

Ideal for an elegant dinner party, The Tithe Barn features exposed vaulted English oak beams, an open fire and minstrels' gallery. A reception can be enjoyed in the adjacent Painted Hall, with its own fireplace and bar.

The Magnolia Lawn: Al Fresco (May - September)

The Magnolia Lawn
Located within our sunny walled garden on the Magnolia Lawn, new for 2022 is our stunning stretch-tent dining space. Available for all manner of events, from birthday parties to weddings, offering barbecues, buffets, afternoon tea parties, picnic spreads and more, it is a magical setting for any occasion. Available from May till September for up to 80 guests, it's a space to let your imagination run wild (and we have quite the rolodex of contacts to help you create the perfect look!).

The Courtyard

The Courtyard, hidden within the Coach House which itself is available for private hire, is a special space for an al fresco bash. With plenty of room for a gathering of up to 50 guests, the Courtyard is the perfect backdrop for a barbecue or perhaps an afternoon tea spread. We can provide a pop-up bar in the Courtyard and there are bathrooms in the Coach House available to use. Should the weather be inclement, we recommend using The Clarence for your event, our largest private room in the Coach House which has direct access to The Courtyard.

The Yew Rooms: Al Fresco (May - September)

Head due south through the Rose Garden and you'll discover The Yew Rooms, a series of open-air  private dining spaces, neatly screened by the ancient yew hedgerows. Two of these 'rooms' have now been cleared and prepared for guests to enjoy as they once did in the long history of Great Fosters.

The Secret & Mystical Gardens
The Secret Garden, overseen by a bust of the mythical creature Pan, is our most 'formal' of the Yew Rooms, with seating arranged on the square patio within the tall yew hedges. Directly opposite, you will find the Mystical Garden; a space bursting with ornamental planting, stepping stone paving and some casual seating. It's perfect for pre-lunch drinks and nibbles, and is yours to use with bookings in the The Secret Garden. Available for up to 18 guests.

The Yew Rooms: Al Fresco (May - September)

The Oval Garden
The Oval Garden is reached down a gentle swooping slope, revealing the 'oval' lawn. In our gallery you'll see the Oval Garden dressed for an 'Alice in Wonderland' tea party; it's less formal than the Secret Garden and is a special spot for an afternoon with friends. Available for up to 30 guests.

The View
Coming soon, the View is our very unique raised garden, opposite the Oval, with the summit reached also by a swooping slope, this time heading upwards. From the top of the View, you'll have a commanding aspect across the Estate. It's a perfect spot for a special picnic for up to 6 guests.
