Afternoon Tea at Langshott Manor

Traditional decadence

Could there be anything more quintessentially British than indulging in an afternoon tea in a 16th century Tudor manor house? Here at Langshott Manor Hotel, we are all about decadence at its finest. Our proximity to both London and Gatwick Airport makes this the perfect excuse for a little indulgence away from the city or for a truly British start to your stay in the UK.

From freshly baked bread to homemade cakes fresh from our pastry chef, afternoon tea at Langshott Manor Hotel is a truly indulgent experience. Available daily from 12pm - 5pm, our afternoon tea can be enjoyed with or without Champagne and taken in our cosy lounges or (weather permitting) on our terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens.

The concept of Afternoon Tea was founded in 1840 by the Duchess of Bedford, who found herself hungry between the long period of time between lunch and her fashionably late supper. The Duchess would request a tray of tea, bread and butter to be brought to her in the late afternoon. She later asked friends to join her for this occasion and thus a tradition was born.

Fun fact – it was the Earl of Sandwich who inspired the British love of sandwiches by introducing a filling between two slices of bread!
