A three day food festival at Windsor View Lakes, Datchet where you can browse the market place for lots of delicious goodies to take home, watch local chefs (including our very own Tony Parkin) show off their latest skills in the demo tent and listen to local music on the main stage. Plus, of course there is a huge array of wonderfully tasty food & drinks available from the many street food vendors present.
Ian McKellen stars as Hamlet, 50 years after first taking on the role in this reimagined age, colour and gender-blind production of Shakespeare’s unrelenting tale of madness, revenge and death. Staged in a new format never seen before at the Theatre Royal Windsor, the production includes a limited number of on-stage seats, which will be made available close to performances dates, giving an exclusive opportunity to experience world-class theatre up-close and personal.
A special display included within the ticket price to Windsor Castle commemorates the life & legacy of HRH Prince Philip, Britain’s longest serving consort. Themes explored include The Prince’s early life & naval career, his role as consort and his support for the sovereign at home & abroad. The displays also focus on his wide-ranging patronages and associations, including sport, science & industry, conservation & the environment, art & collecting and his enthusiastic encouragement of the younger generations.
Brooklands has a host of events planned including a celebration of the 95th anniversary of the British Grand Prix on Saturday, 7th August where the most spectacular event will be the ‘Race Starts’. Watch as cars & bikes of the period are lined up & flagged off for a high-speed dash up the historic Finishing Straight to the Members Bank. The Motorcycle Show on Sunday, 15th August celebrates the legacy of motorcycling at Brooklands alongside the best of today’s bikes & super-machines. Enthusiasts, no matter what they ride or from what era, are all welcome. Sunday, 22nd August sees the popular New Year's Day Classic Gathering taking place for the first time as a summer event. The flagship garden of the RHS & one of the world's greatest gardens, Wisley really is a sight to behold in the summer months with a riot of colour and perfume. The Cottage Garden peaks in July with some incredible soft romantic planting whilst nearly 5,000 lavender and rosemary plants in large stripes carpet the Viewing Mount with amazing fragrance. Live at Wisley includes a poetry trail from 1 - 31 July plus there is live jazz on Saturdays until 31 July. There are various outdoor family theatre events over the summer too and the RHS Wisley Flower Show from 7 - 12 September. A 25 minute drive from the hotel.
Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents a wonderful evening of Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy, complete with beautiful Elizabethan costumes and a splendid musical score. Star-crossed Athenian lovers, playful fairies and hilarious traveling players make for an unforgettable performance of outdoor theatre in magical surroundings. Over 200 exhibitors plus a programme of talks & demonstrations and a Clay Creation Zone to fire your imagination will be set up at Royal Windsor Racecourse. Exhibitors range from young imaginative students & relative newcomers to leading national & international makers. Some great ideas for ceramics in interior and garden design will be displayed for purchase. There will be a clay creation zone where you can choose to throw a pot on a potter’s wheel or make a creation by hand under the guidance of an experienced potter plus a clay challenge, inspired by the Great Pottery Throw Down where some of its contestants will be on hand to assist. 20 minutes from the hotel.
